We have been asked by many people, what does the “I” in I-Genesis stand for? It stands for “Inner.” The I-Genesis collection was designed to allow all women, and men, to tap into the innate potential of their own skin and to define their natural beauty. No foundation, concealer or cosmetic can evoke the same sense of beauty and vitality that smooth, youthful, even-toned skin can. We believe that the best way to achieve beautiful skin is to provide the skin with the nutrients it needs to do what it does best, regenerate.

There are countless examples of how your skin repairs itself from the environmental insults it encounters each day. When you cut your skin, the barrier re-forms and the wound heals. When your skin is inflamed due to a rash or irritation, natural anti-inflammatory factors are released by the skin to reduce the inflammation and return it to its normal state. Young and healthy skin is able to heal and undergo self-renewal rapidly and easily because communication between the different layers and cells of the skin functions efficiently. As skin ages or becomes damaged by UV radiation, cellular communication becomes weak and inefficient so your skin cannot repair itself effectively and imperfections accumulate. Many common cosmetic devices on the market, such as lasers, chemical peels and micro-needles, try to stimulate the healing process by introducing areas of damage to the skin or by stripping the superficial layers. This damage in turn activates the skin’s renewal programs to repair and rejuvenate. While this approach can be very effective, it has some drawbacks (for example, potential discomfort, down time for healing) and cannot be used by everyone. As skin scientists, our goal was to design a product that could be used by anyone of any age or skin type to stimulate these same processes without having to damage your skin first.

In developing the I-Genesis line, we formulated key nutrients that healthy skin needs to maintain an active repair system. Like creating a healthy meal for your skin, we combined nutritional building blocks like carbohydrates, amino and fatty acids, minerals and vitamins with a special blend of extracts that work together to protect, hydrate and promote self-renewal. Our extract blend is derived from six food grade plants, including vanilla, forget-me-not, matsutake mushroom, licorice root, ginseng root, and aloe vera. Each type of plant is extracted in a special way without harsh chemicals to ensure safe use and to preserve its purest form. Each of the extracts possesses anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and individually each extract offers benefits like brightening, hydrating, clarifying and boosting collagen/elastin production. When blended together these extracts work synergistically and boost positive impact to the skin.

Our key ingredients and their unique properties:

Vanilla: primarily known as a fragrance and flavoring agent, has many underestimated skin benefits. It contains high concentration of anti-oxidants and vitamin B complex and has anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces the occurrence of wrinkles, fine lines on the skin and age spots.

Forget-me-not: a popular wildflower with delicate blue bloom, is rich in vitamin C and anti-oxidants.

Tricholoma Matsutake: a pine mushroom native to Japan, was used as a skin lightening agent in high-caste families in Japan. It is known in modern cosmecueticals for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Licorice root: one of the most common herbs used in medicine and cosmetics, is well known for its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-carcinogenic, and antiviral properties.

Ginseng root: rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. It can stimulate and activate skin metabolism, increase blood circulation, increase collagen production and improve complexion.

Aloe Vera needs no introduction. Its benefits are well known — it can prevent signs of aging, moisturize skin, reduce acne and helps lighten blemishes, helps with sunburns, heals external wounds and insect bites and reduces stretch marks.
